The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party has announced the death of one of its officials, Ahmed Maamun Ali, the Chairman of Magharini.
In a statement dated April 1, ODM Deputy Party Leader Abdulswamad Sharrif Nassir shared the sad news, expressing deep shock and sorrow. He described Maamun Ali, affectionately known as Akaku, as a close friend and dedicated party member.
“I have received the devastating news of the passing of my dear friend and comrade, Ahmed Maamun Ali, fondly known to many as Akaku, with deep shock and profound sorrow,” Abdulswamad wrote.
He praised Maamun Ali for his steadfast leadership, noting his unwavering commitment to the ideals of justice, equity, and grassroots empowerment.
“Akaku was not only a passionate leader within our party but also a true patriot. His absence will be deeply felt by all who had the honor of working alongside him,” Abdulswamad added.
The ODM Deputy Party Leader also extended his condolences to Maamun Ali’s family, friends, and the entire Mambrui community, as well as the broader Magharini region, wishing them strength as they hold onto cherished memories and the enduring legacy Maamun leaves behind.
Kilifi Governor Gideon Mung’aro also expressed his grief, saying, “I am profoundly saddened and at a loss for words upon learning this unexpected news.
The loss of my dear friend Ahmed Maamun Ali (Akaku) is deeply felt, and he will be greatly missed. My heartfelt condolences go out to his family and all those who knew him. Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un.”
Ibrahim Athman, the Majority Leader at the Kilifi County Assembly, remembered Maamun Ali as a hardworking leader who loved interacting with the community.
“I am deeply saddened to hear about the passing of my dear friend, Ahmed Maamun Ali (Akaku).
He was a strong pillar of ODM, hardworking, united, and deeply passionate about politics and our community.
May the Almighty God receive him with mercy, and may his bereaved family find patience and strength during this difficult time.”
Maamun Ali’s passing comes just months after the death of the ODM’s Alego-Usonga Branch Chairman, Mzee John Orwenjo Umidho, who passed away following an illness on September 12, 2024.
