President William Ruto announced that over 1,800 Kenyans are currently employed at the United Nations headquarters in New York.
This revelation came during his visit to the U.S. for the 79th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA79), where he engaged with Kenyan UN employees.
Meeting with Kenyans at the Kenyan Permanent Mission in New York, President Ruto emphasized his administration’s commitment to addressing unemployment by facilitating job opportunities for Kenyans abroad.
His administration, known as Kenya First, aims to create pathways for employment opportunities in foreign nations.
During a recent trip to Germany, Ruto noted that there are approximately 250,000 job openings available for Kenyans in that country.
While in the U.S., he reiterated the government’s dedication to developing strategies that support Kenyans working overseas and expanding job availability through new programs designed to send workers abroad.
Additionally, President Ruto participated in discussions at the UN summit focused on future initiatives and global cooperation.
His remarks reflect a broader strategy by the Kenyan government to enhance employment prospects for its citizens internationally while fostering stronger ties with global institutions.
