Eregi Girls High School, in Kakamega County, is facing a health crisis as more than 60 students have fallen ill with a mysterious sickness.
This sudden outbreak has led to 30 students being admitted to Kakamega Level Five Hospital, 20 to Shibwe Hospital, and 10 to Iguhu Hospital.
The affected students are all experiencing similar symptoms, particularly difficulty walking.
This alarming situation has prompted more students to be rushed to different healthcare facilities across the county.
Preliminary tests have shown that these students have imbalanced electrolyte levels, indicating a loss of fluids from their bodies.
This is concerning and requires immediate attention.
To address this health emergency, medical experts from KEMRI (Kenya Medical Research Institute) are scheduled to visit the school on Tuesday to assess the situation and provide much-needed assistance.
