“The victim, a pastor, reported that he was heading for dinner after a busy day preparing for the Benny Hinn crusade at Nyayo National Stadium when three men grabbed him and put him in a car,” stated the DCI.
The suspects stripped the pastor naked and took pictures of him, threatening to share them on social media if he didn’t comply with their demands.
Fearing embarrassment, the pastor handed over Sh.55,000 from his M-Pesa account.
After reporting the incident at Nyayo Police Station, detectives from the Crime Research and Intelligence Bureau and Langata acted swiftly, arresting the culprits.
“In response to the report made at Nyayo Police Post, the DCI team analyzed forensic evidence, leading them to Village Apartment Hse No F2 in Syokimau, where they arrested the first suspect, Bernard Mbunga Mbusu,” read the statement.
During the arrests, police recovered three mobile phones, including an iPhone 13 used to receive the stolen money, and a PDQ bank card swapping machine.
