Thika police have apprehended a 25-year-old student from Tom Mboya University, David Kioko, in connection with the brutal murder of his 19-year-old girlfriend, Faith Musembi.
Preliminary investigations suggest Kioko allegedly killed Musembi over suspicions of infidelity, plunging both families, who hail from Machakos County, into a state of shock and grief.
Faith Musembi, a first-year student at Mt. Kenya University and eight months pregnant at the time of her death, was tragically discovered lifeless by her father last week in her rented room in Pilot Estate, Thika.
Thika Police boss Lawrence Muchangi confirmed Kioko’s arrest, emphasizing ongoing thorough investigations. “We have the main suspect in custody and are conducting thorough investigations.
The DCIO is on that matter, and the suspect will be produced in court soon,” Muchangi told Citizen Digital.
The gruesome discovery has sent shockwaves through Machakos, Thika, and beyond, with calls for swift justice reverberating.
Musembi’s parents, devastated by the loss of their daughter and unborn grandchild, are demanding justice.
“We want the authorities to ensure that the person responsible for this heinous act is punished to the fullest extent of the law,” said Boniface Musembi, Faith’s father.
An autopsy conducted at Thika General Kago Funeral Home, where Faith’s body is lying, revealed that she succumbed to excessive bleeding.
The report indicated bleeding in the uterus caused by abruptio placenta, where the placenta detached itself, leading to fatal hemorrhaging.
Kioko remains in custody for interrogation as investigations into the tragic murder continue, leaving a community reeling in shock and mourning the loss of a young life and her unborn child.
