Rongo sub-county police commander, Peter Okiring, has voiced worry about the presence of unsupervised children in Rongo town and other trading centers.
He is urging parents to take responsibility for their children’s movements, as these youngsters are vulnerable to various dangers, such as defilement and teenage pregnancies.

He emphasized that the police want to avoid a surge in teenage pregnancies in Migori County due to parental neglect.

To address this issue, the sub-county police commander announced plans to apprehend both the children found loitering in towns and their parents.
They will face necessary actions to ensure accountability.
Additionally, Okiring issued a stern warning to individuals contemplating the sexual abuse of children, asserting that they would be arrested and brought to justice.
Simultaneously, Okiring urged bar operators not to permit children on their premises, which is against the law.
The police commander assured the public that patrols are being conducted to ensure no child gains entry to bars, emphasizing the importance of enforcing these regulations.
