In a coordinated operation by detectives, traffic, and general duties officers from Voi Police Station resulted in the arrest of a suspect and the seizure of bhang valued at over Sh7 million.
The suspect, identified as Collins Otieno Angwech, 50, was operating a grey Voxy vehicle (KCK 054X) filled with illegal drugs.
The operation unfolded when traffic officers near Izera Ranch signaled Angwech to pull over.
Instead of complying, he recklessly accelerated towards Mombasa, sparking a high-speed chase.
Officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and general duty units swiftly mobilized to pursue the fleeing vehicle.
After a tense chase, they successfully intercepted Angwech’s vehicle off-road and escorted it back to Voi Police Station.
A thorough inspection of the vehicle revealed a substantial quantity of illicit substances, including 1,315 rolls and eight and a half sacks of bhang.
The estimated street value of the seized drugs is Sh7,135,500, highlighting the scale of the trafficking operation.
Angwech is now in custody at Voi Police Station as authorities continue their investigation into the matter.
The confiscated narcotics, along with the vehicle, have been secured as evidence for the ongoing case.
