Police are currently investigating three unrelated deaths across Makueni, Baringo, and Murang’a Counties, as well as a fire incident in Murang’a and an interception of a contraband-laden vehicle in Kakamega County.
In Kilome, Makueni County, authorities are probing the sudden death of Benjamin Muuo, 44, whose body was found outside his residence.
Initial reports suggest he may have accidentally fallen from the roof, sustaining fatal injuries.
Police noted visible injuries around his mouth.
The scene was processed, and Muuo’s body was transferred to the Kilungu Sub-County Hospital mortuary pending an autopsy.
In another incident, police responded to a report of a body found in a ditch on a feeder road in the Bosoni area.
The deceased, identified as Eric Okindo, appeared to have been intoxicated while walking home.
His body was discovered with no significant injuries aside from bruising on his forehead.
Officers documented the scene and transported Okindo’s body to the Gucha Level Four Hospital mortuary for further examination.
In Marigat, Baringo County, police are investigating the death of 75-year-old Kandagor Chirchir, who passed away at home after a prolonged illness.
Authorities reported that Chirchir was found in bed, and his body was subsequently moved to the Baringo County Referral Hospital mortuary for an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.
Meanwhile, in Makuyu, Murang’a South, police responded to a fire that broke out at the Makuyu Golf Club on Sunday.
Officers on patrol spotted flames and arrived to find grass burning. Although the fire was contained, the cause remains undetermined.
In a separate incident, police intercepted a vehicle carrying contraband on the Busia-Kakamega road in Matungu, Kakamega County.
When officers attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver attempted to flee, turning back toward Busia.
As the driver sped toward officers, one officer fired at the rear left tire.
After stopping the vehicle, officers found contraband goods, including 150 dozen bottles of Simba Waragi, suspected to be alcoholic, and four loaves of bread.
The driver was arrested, and the contraband was confiscated as part of the ongoing investigation.
