A police reservist is fighting for his life in hospital after he accidentally shot himself in the face in Laikipia.
The victim was among other reservists on patrol in Borana conservancy when his G3 rifle discharged a bullet.
The bullet hit his jaw exiting on the nose.
He was immediately airlifted to Nanyuki Airstrip where he was collected by an ambulance to Nanyuki Cottage Hospital where he was taken to the theater for constructive surgery in the Monday, May 13 incident.
Police said they are investigating the tragedy.
Hundreds of armed reservists are used to guard the conservancies in the area.
They help address invaders including cattle rustlers.
