President William Ruto is set to depart for Rome, Italy, today to participate in the Italy-Africa Summit.
According to a statement from State House Spokesperson Hussein Mohammed, President Ruto, in his role as the Chair of the Committee of African Heads of State and Government on Climate Change (CAHOSCC), will address energy security at the summit.
The theme for this year’s summit is “A Bridge for Common Growth.”

Ruto will join 20 other heads of state to engage in discussions on vital areas of collaboration, such as food security, culture, education, vocational training, energy security, economic and infrastructure development, and the fight against human trafficking and terrorism.
The leaders will assess agreements established during Italy’s President Mattarella’s State Visit to Kenya last year and subsequent meetings with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, as highlighted by Mohamed.
Additionally, Ruto is scheduled to hold talks with President Mattarella to strengthen bilateral cooperation.
Mohamed stated, “Projects resulting from the collaboration between Italy and Kenya will be accelerated, including initiatives in environmental conservation, climate change resilience, water, education, health, energy, and culture.”
President Ruto’s visit will also encompass bilateral engagements with European Union (EU) leaders, officials from the World Bank and IMF, and African leaders involved in peace processes in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Sudan, and South Sudan.
