During his visit to Mandera County, President William Ruto promised to tackle some of the region’s most pressing issues, including electricity, water, and road infrastructure, which have long been challenges for the local community.
In his address, Ruto emphasized the government’s commitment to ensuring that Northern Kenya receives the same opportunities and services as other parts of the country.
“That is why we must connect electricity, we must connect water, and we must improve the road network,” Ruto stated, reaffirming his dedication to addressing the infrastructural gaps that have hindered development in the region.
The president also took the opportunity to stress his belief in equal treatment for all Kenyans, regardless of their location.
“I want to assure you that it is my responsibility to make sure that Kenya is united, and every Kenyan is treated equally,” Ruto declared.
“The children of Northern Kenya must not be treated differently from the children of other parts of Kenya.”
Ruto also dismissed any opposition, claiming that those without a clear plan for the country would “fail miserably.”
He assured the people of Mandera that under his leadership, the country would move forward united, with projects aimed at improving the lives of all Kenyans.
The president was joined by key leaders, including the Deputy President Kithure Kindiki, the Governor of Mandera Mohamed Adan Khalif, and the Senator Roba Ali Ibrahim, who have all played important roles in advancing local development projects.
He commended them for their dedication, particularly in the establishment of a college in the region, and praised their efforts in pushing for improvements in the community.
Additionally, Ruto acknowledged the presence of leaders from neighboring counties, such as the Governor of Marsabit, as he stressed the importance of collaborative leadership in driving regional progress.
The president also reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring that development reaches every corner of the country, particularly Northern Kenya, which has long faced infrastructure challenges.
