President William Ruto is determined to push forward with the implementation of the Social Health Insurance Fund, emphasizing that his government will confront health ministry cartels obstructing the initiative.
Speaking at the Annual Kimalel Goat Auction in Baringo, Ruto accused entrenched cartels of fraudulent activities within the Ministry of Health and vowed to address the issue.
Ruto expressed his commitment to the Health Insurance Fund, dismissing attempts to hinder it through legal challenges.
He pointed out that those opposing the Universal Health Coverage (UHC) program were connected to the National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF) beneficiaries.
The president declared, “We are not going to accept blackmail,” and affirmed his administration’s unwavering dedication to achieving fairness in healthcare provision.

Referring to the cartels as “wakora” (crooks), Ruto asserted that his government would stand firm against those exploiting the Ministry of Health and NHIF, ensuring that such individuals face consequences.
He also touched upon the security situation in the northern part of the country, assuring the public of the government’s commitment to ending banditry.
In response to the insecurity, Roads and Transport Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen pledged collective efforts to address the issue.
President Ruto announced the resumption of teaching in all schools affected by insecurity, aiming to reopen them in January.
Regarding power supply stability, Deputy Rigathi Gachagua highlighted ongoing efforts to improve the situation, especially at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA).
He emphasized the need for modernizing the airport to gain international respect.
