Public Health and Professional Standards Principal Secretary, Mary Muthoni, has announced the passing of her father, Phillip Muriuki Ngari, marking a somber moment for her and her family.
The news was shared on Thursday via Muthoni’s official social media accounts, where she revealed that her father had been unwell for a prolonged period, spending the last few months in hospital under medical care.
Despite their best efforts, his health did not improve significantly.
In a heartfelt message, Muthoni disclosed that they decided to take him home, where he spent his final days receiving oxygen support.
Muthoni shared a poignant reflection, expressing deep sorrow over the loss of her father.
She recounted how she had visited him just the day before his passing, cherishing those last precious moments with him, though she hadn’t known it would be the final time they would be together.
“I have some sad news to share.
My father, who had been critically ill and hospitalized for the past few months, has passed away.
We brought him home where he was on oxygen, and yesterday I spent some time with him, not realizing it would be our last moment together. Rest in peace, Papa,” Muthoni wrote in her emotional tribute.
The Health PS did not disclose the exact nature of her father’s illness but expressed her gratitude for the time she had with him during his final days.
Following the announcement, an outpouring of condolences from public figures and leaders followed.
Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru was among the first to send her heartfelt message of sympathy, offering support to Muthoni and her family during this time of grief.
Other leaders, colleagues, and well-wishers have also reached out to offer their condolences, acknowledging the deep loss Muthoni has experienced and offering words of comfort.
As Muthoni and her family come to terms with the loss, many continue to send their prayers and support to the Health PS during this challenging period.
