In many people after a long job search, when they get their first paycheck it represents something important in their life.
This usually marks the beginning of financial freedom and the fruits of one’s hard work.
The first payback is eagerly anticipated and often highly organized, with dreams of spending the money on long-term needs, experiences, or savings goals.
However, one of the presenters at Homeboyz radio station Lotan Salapei had a different perspective because after receiving his first salary he chose a different way to spend his salary.
Instead of committing or saving it for a rainy day, Salapei made the unusual decision to give away his entire down payment.
Speaking on showmax mixtape held on March 29, Lotan revealed that it was his long-time desire to get into radio, as a full Christian, Lotana said that he gave his salary of Sh20, 000 he received from his employer to the church as a way of gratitude.
Before joining the radio station, Laton was a program officer at the Rwanda League for the Protection and Defense of Human Rights.
He left the job with the intention of chasing his dream of becoming a radio presenter which brought him to Homeboyz Radio where he runs a Drive Show with Kerry Martin.
As part of showing gratitude, Lotan has support few presenters whom they didn’t want their names to be mentioned by helping them and brought them to the radio station.
His entry into Radio has made him drive into the singing space which has been witnessed by organizing different events.
“They congratulate each other; I like to talk and I get paid to talk, why I don’t get on the stage and talk.” Said Lotan.
Lotan is also a sport TV presenter and in April 2023 he joined sports broadcaster Supersport TV.
