A group of religious leaders, known as the patriarchal spiritual elders, is urging parliament to swiftly pass a bill opposing same-sex marriages.
The leaders, led by Archbishop Arthur Kitonga of the Redeemed Gospel Church, stress that such unions go against the teachings of the Bible.
They express their support for Pastor Dorcas Rigathi, the second lady, in her efforts against these marriages.

The call for legislative action coincides with Homa Bay Town MP George Peter Opondo Kaluma’s submission of a bill to Kenya’s Apex Court.
Kaluma is determined to challenge a Supreme Court ruling on the registration of an LGBTQ lobby group.
The Supreme Court rejected Kaluma’s application, prompting him to argue that the Kenyan judicial system is the weak link in the “battle against homosexuality in Kenya.”
Kaluma insists on the urgency of passing the Family Protection Bill in Kenya to put an end to what he calls “LGBTQ madness.”
Despite acknowledging the challenges in court, he emphasizes the importance of taking this step to “save humanity.”
“We face a tough journey in the courts, but it’s the right path to take for the greater good.
Expediting the enactment of the family protection bill is crucial to putting an end to this madness,” he asserts.
