The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) has recommended the prosecution of 20 out of the 22 cases forwarded by the anti-graft body between October 1 and December 31 last year.
The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) in its fourth quarterly report gave the details of the investigations completed and files forwarded to the DPP and the decisions on recommendations of the Commission.
The report released on Friday, February 17, also indicates that two files were recommended for closure while ten other files were returned to the commission for further investigations.
According to the EACC, 12 other files were awaiting the DPP’s advice.
Among such cases is the inquiry into the allegations of procurement irregularities and conflict of interest in the award of tenders by the Muranga County to Top Image Media Consultancy and the Sh212 million West Pokot bursary and education and infrastructure fund.
Others are the allegations of corruption and misappropriation of funds at the NSSF through the irregular award of tender for supply and installation of Bulk Filer awarded to Beldavo Enterprises Limited and inquiry into allegations that Machakos County Government irregularly awarded a tender for desilting of Maruba Dam to Waki Clearing and Forwarding Agents Limited.
Section 36 of the Anti-Corruption and Economic Crimes Act (ACECA) requires EACC to publish such reports in the Kenya Gazette.
The report has also been sent to the Attorney General’s office for tabling before the National Assembly.
