President William Ruto has made revisions to his recent Cabinet nominee lineup, originally unveiled last Friday.
In a surprising update disclosed to Parliament on Tuesday afternoon by Speaker Moses Wetangula, Aden Duale has been transferred from the Defence Ministry to the Environment portfolio.
Concurrently, Soipan Tuya, previously designated for the Environment Ministry, has been reassigned to the Defence Ministry.
Reacting to his unexpected reassignment, Aden Duale expressed appreciation on his social media account, stating, “I am grateful to President @WilliamsRuto for reassigning me from the Defence Ministry to the Ministry of Environment, Climate Change, and Forestry.
I am eager to serve in this new capacity and prioritize sustainable environmental management, climate change mitigation, and initiatives for reforestation and conservation.”
He added a quote, “‘And it may be that you dislike a thing which is good for you and that you like a thing which is bad for you. Allah knows, but you do not know.’ – Quran 2:216.”
All other Cabinet appointments remain unchanged from the President’s initial announcement.
Speaker Wetangula confirmed that all Cabinet nominees, including those reassigned, will undergo vetting procedures.
“The communication presented to this House is as I have read to you.
No individual will assume the position of Minister until the President has formally written to Parliament, the vetting Committee has conducted its process, and the entire House has voted on the vetting Committee’s report,” he affirmed.
