Rwanda’s President, Paul Kagame, has opened the doors to all African travelers by allowing visa-free entry into the country, becoming the fourth nation in Africa to do so.
President Kagame declared, “Let there be no mistake about it. Any African can get on a plane to Rwanda whenever they wish and will not pay a thing to enter our country.”
This decision aims to take advantage of the growing tourism industry in Africa, driven by the expanding middle class on the continent.
In an effort to boost its tourism sector, Rwanda has been actively promoting itself as a top tourist destination, collaborating with renowned football clubs like Arsenal and Bayern Munich.
Now, Rwanda joins Seychelles, The Gambia, and Benin as the only African countries offering visa-free entry for all African citizens.
Kenya’s President, William Ruto, also recently announced plans to eliminate visa requirements for all African visitors by 2024.
Moreover, numerous African nations have established bilateral agreements for visa-free travel.
Most notably, Ghana and South Africa, as well as Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo, have forged such agreements.
This cooperative spirit is making travel within Africa more accessible and convenient for all its people.
