In Machakos Town, a night guard at Kyasila Secondary School was killed during a robbery on Monday night.
The attackers, who remain unidentified, broke into the school and stole various items and an undisclosed amount of money.
The guard was discovered in a Form Four classroom with severe head injuries and his hands bound.
Despite efforts to save him, he died at the hospital from his injuries.
Authorities believe he was attacked with a sharp object.
Investigations reveal that the robbers entered the school via the ABC Kyasila Church’s fence.
They first raided the church’s kitchen, taking cooking oil and sugar, then moved on to the school.
They looted the principal’s and deputy principal’s offices before proceeding to Kyasila Primary School, where they stole a motorcycle.
The police have moved the guard’s body to the mortuary for an autopsy and are actively investigating the case.
No arrests have been made, but a team of detectives is working on the case involving both robbery and murder.
In a separate incident, Weldon Koech, 27, was fatally stabbed in Kapsabet, Nandi County, following a dispute near a petrol station.
The attacker, who was known to the victim, has been arrested and will face court on murder charges.
Koech’s body has been taken to the mortuary for an autopsy, which will help in the murder proceedings.
