In a surprising turn of events, the police have arrested two individuals in Kampala’s Makindye neighborhood after a gruesome discovery.
They found the body of an unknown woman, which had been cut into 18 pieces and hidden in a septic tank.
The arrested suspects include the landlady of the property where the body was found and a tenant who couldn’t explain the bloodstains in his room.
The police spokesperson, Patrick Onyango, confirmed the arrests and mentioned that the prime suspects are currently held at Katwe Police Station as investigations continue.
Local Ugandan media reported that the police uncovered a chopped torso and various body parts, suggesting that the victim had been decapitated before her body was hidden.
During the search’s second day, with the assistance of the fire department, the police found the victim’s head.
However, her nose and ears were concealed inside a whisky bottle buried at some distance from the house.
The absence of the victim’s private parts has raised suspicions that this horrific act might be related to a ritual. Some of the body parts were discovered in a bag, while others were wrapped in a red jacket that has been traced back to the main suspect.
While the exact details surrounding this tragic incident remain unclear, neighbors reported hearing a disturbance about a week before the body was found.
At the time, they believed it was a typical argument between a couple.
The discovery of the woman’s body came about when concerned residents noticed a foul smell emanating from the septic tank.
This led to the alarming revelation of human body parts floating inside the tank.
The victim’s remains have been moved to the city morgue in Mulago, where an autopsy will be conducted to determine her identity and gather more information about this distressing case.
