Shopkeeper Hacked To Death By Gang Of Four In Kwale

A 43-year-old businessman was hacked to death by a gang of four unknown assailants who attacked him at his home in Lunga Lunga, Kwale County.

Mutua Muasya, was attacked shortly after arriving home from his shop at Majongani Shopping Centre, where he had worked until about 10pm on Friday.

Police said the attackers followed him to his home, where they confronted him as he entered his compound before storming into the house and attacking him with pangas.

Muasya suffered deep cuts to the head and died at the scene.

His wife, aged 38, was also attacked during the incident. She sustained serious deep cuts to her head and right hand.

She was rushed to a private clinic at Majongani for first aid before being referred to Msambweni County Referral Hospital, where she was admitted in serious condition.

The scene was processed and Muasya’s body was moved to the Msambweni County Referral Hospital mortuary pending a post-mortem examination.

Police have launched investigations to establish the identity of the four attackers and determine the motive for the killing.

No arrests had been reported by the time of filing this report.

And a 43-year-old man was found dead in ocean waters along the Manyani area of Mombasa County in an incident police suspect could have been a drowning.

The body of Hamisi Juma, was retrieved from the ocean by members of the public on Saturday morning after residents spotted it floating in the water.

Police officers who rushed to the scene found the deceased’s body after it had been pulled from the ocean by members of the public.

According to preliminary investigations, Juma had been seen the previous night at a local mnazi den, where he appeared to be heavily intoxicated and disturbed.

His body was discovered floating in the nearby ocean waters the following morning.

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding his death, although initial information points to possible drowning.

The body was moved to the Coast General Hospital mortuary, where it is being preserved pending an autopsy to establish the exact cause of death.
