The body of a Free State woman has been found in a septic tank in Boiketlo village in QwaQwa, almost a week after she was reported missing.
According to News27, police spokesperson, Warrant Officer Mmako Mophiring, said Mookgo Felli Ramateletse, 33, was reported missing by her husband last Monday.
She had last spoken to her husband on the phone, but when he arrived home, she was not there.
On Sunday, officers from the Namahadi police, Phuthaditjhaba Crime Intelligence, Phuthaditjhaba K9 Unit, Phuthaditjhaba Public Order Police and the Namahadi Visible Police Unit formed a search party, Mophiring said.
Police officers found a pair of slippers and lipstick in the half-opened septic tank in the yard of the house where she lived and ran a business.
“Maluti-a-Phofung Fire and Emergency Medical Services units were immediately summoned to the scene to investigate the septic tank,” said Mophiring.
A body with multiple stab wounds to the upper body was spotted in the septic tank and recovered.
Moeketsi Joseph Ramateletse identified the body as that of his wife, said Mophiring.
“A case of murder is being investigated, and no arrests have been made as yet. The police investigations continue,” said Mophiring.
