A manhunt has been launched for suspects who killed a security guard during an alleged cash-in-transit heist in Pinetown, west of Durban.
East African Radio reported that it’s understood that the guard and his partner were collecting money from businesses in the area on Monday when they were approached by a group of armed men.
Police say the suspects opened fire.
The guard was struck and died at the scene, while his partner escaped unharmed.
Officers have confirmed that an undisclosed amount of money was taken.
Charges of murder and cash-in-transit robbery have been opened for investigation.
