The management board of Friends School Kamusinga has announced the tragic death of one of their students, who passed away while receiving treatment at Lifecare Hospital.
The student was taken to the hospital following a serious accident in which he fell into a sewage pipe.
On September 16, Prof. Moses Poipoi, the chairman of the board, issued a statement detailing the incident.
According to the statement, the headmaster of Friends School Kamusinga notified the board about the unfortunate event involving the student, whose name has not been disclosed to respect privacy.
Prof. Poipoi elaborated that the student fell into a sewage pipe and was promptly rescued.
He was initially taken to Kimilili Sub-County Hospital for emergency medical care.
Despite the initial efforts to save him, the student’s condition required further treatment, leading to his transfer to Lifecare Hospital.
Unfortunately, despite the medical team’s best efforts, the student passed away.
The incident has prompted a joint investigation by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Internal Affairs to uncover the precise circumstances leading to the student’s fall into the sewage pipe.
The investigation aims to determine how such an accident occurred and to prevent similar incidents in the future.
In response to the tragedy, Prof. Poipoi reassured the school community that the situation at Friends School Kamusinga remains stable.
