Multimedia University students on Tuesday morning staged a protest on along Magadi road over an attack on their colleague by a hyena.
The hyena also attacked and injured a Good Samaritan who had rushed to rescue the student, police said.
The students blocked the road rendering it impassable over an incident where one of them was mauled by a hyena in Rongai.
Kelvin Mwenda, a 21-year-old student at Multimedia University was attacked by a hyena at 8 pm on Monday along Maasai Lodge road, police and Kenya Wildlife Service officials said.
A resident of Olmeut village in Ongata Rongai, rushed to rescue him and equally sustained serious injuries.
The two were rushed to Wama Nursing Home Hospital where they are receiving treatment.
Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) officers responded to the incident on Monday night but the animal had escaped by then.
This is the latest case of human wildlife conflict.
The animals usually stray from national parks for food hence the clash with humans.
Officials are making futile efforts to address the menace.
