Compounding their troubles, the fire engine, upon arrival, ran out of water and had to abandon the mission temporarily to replenish its supply.
This further exacerbated the damage to the stalls.
In the aftermath, the affected traders are urging the county government to deploy a fire engine to Bonchari sub-county to prevent such disasters in the future.
Emotionally shaken, some traders at the scene revealed they had taken loans to establish their businesses.
Appealing to regional leaders for assistance, they emphasized the urgency of support, especially with January approaching and the need to prepare for their children’s return to school.
The traders view this incident as a substantial setback that could impact their future.
