Telegram has recently unveiled a new feature called ‘View-Once’ for voice and video messages, a move mirroring its competitor WhatsApp, owned by Meta.
In September of the previous year, Telegram introduced a ‘view-once’ setting for photos and videos in one-on-one chats. This allowed users to control the visibility duration, ranging from ‘view once’ to 30 seconds.
As part of its January updates, the messaging platform, now a decade old, is extending this feature to voice and video messages.

Users can create a ‘view-once’ message by tapping the microphone icon, recording, and then selecting the “view-once” icon.
According to a social media announcement from Telegram, “Both voice and video messages can now be sent as view-once – after being played one time, the message is automatically deleted.”

The recent updates also include the ability to pause and resume recording for both voice and video messages, as well as the feature to check when a message has been read in private one-on-one chats.
For Premium users, an added capability is the option to conceal their read time while still being able to see someone else’s read time if it’s made public.
Subscribers now have the flexibility to choose who can initiate messages with them first: “Everyone” or “My Contacts and Premium Users.”
