The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has announced the temporary shutdown of five roundabouts along Uhuru Highway for maintenance purposes.
The affected roundabouts, namely Nyayo Stadium, Bunyala, Haile Selassie Avenue, Kenyatta Avenue, and University Way, will be inaccessible from December 28 to January 1, 2024.
KeNHA emphasized that the closure is essential for conducting necessary maintenance activities along these specific sections of the highway.
In response to the closure, KeNHA Director General Eng. Kung’u Ndung’u urged motorists to exercise caution and follow signage while navigating the route.

“When approaching these affected sections, exercise caution as certain lanes will be closed, and traffic will be directed to share lanes.
Adhere to the traffic signs and guidance provided by traffic marshals and police present at the site,” stated Ndung’u in a Citizen Digital report.

Earlier in the week, KeNHA also announced the temporary closure of a segment of the Nairobi Southern Bypass between Lang’ata Interchange and Ngong Interchange.
This closure, in effect from Wednesday until January 23, 2024, is necessary for the construction and installation of a virtual weighbridge along the route.
To minimize traffic disruption, KeNHA specified that the closure would involve one lane of each carriageway at a time.
Motorists are therefore advised to use a single lane on each carriageway in both directions during this period.
