A tragic fire claimed the lives of three individuals in the Lunga Lunga slums of Nairobi.
The blaze, which erupted around 8 p.m., engulfed a house, resulting in the victims being burned beyond recognition, according to police and local reports.
The fire began in one of the affected homes and quickly spread, catching the victims while they were asleep.
The deceased have been identified by their mother as a 16-year-old student in Form Two, an eight-year-old girl in Grade Two at Joyland Vision Academy, and their four-year-old sister.
The incident took place in the Paradise area of Lunga Lunga slums.
Firefighters from the county arrived and managed to extinguish the blaze, at which point the bodies were discovered.
The cause of the fire remains undetermined, as police continue their investigation.
Emergency services responded swiftly to the scene, as noted by Nairobi police chief Adamson Bungei.
The bodies have been taken to the City Mortuary for further examination.
In a separate incident, a 21-year-old casual worker, David Wanyonyi Khisa, died from electrocution while working on an electric pole installation project in Eldoret.
The accident occurred when the concrete post he and his colleagues were balancing came into contact with a live electric line, leading to a fatal electric shock.
Khisa lost consciousness and was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.
His body has been taken to the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital mortuary, where it will undergo a postmortem examination.
