Three individuals were victims of a violent robbery on Friday in Mavoko, Machakos County, when they were attacked by suspected assailants.
The victims included two private surveyors and their driver.
According to police reports, the surveyors sustained injuries during the attack, while their driver managed to escape unharmed.
The incident occurred as they attempted to survey NSSF land in the DM area, near a dumpsite within Mlolongo, Athi River subcounty.
Authorities were alerted to the situation around noon, leading to a swift response from Mavoko police.
“At approximately 12 PM, a report was made regarding a robbery with violence in the DM area. Police from Mavoko responded immediately,” a police statement noted.
Upon arrival, investigators learned that the surveyors and a male assistant were assessing land parcels LR 20200, LR 20208, and 337/2921, all owned by the National Social Security Fund (NSSF), when they were ambushed by the attackers.
The assailants not only robbed the driver of a Mitsubishi vehicle but also set it ablaze following the attack.
The team leader and another individual, whose identity has not yet been confirmed, were physically assaulted and had their personal belongings taken.
Fortunately, the driver escaped the ordeal without injuries, while the two surveyors are currently receiving treatment at a local hospital.
Notably, the survey team had proceeded without the presence of police officers, despite warnings from NSSF’s head of security.
