Detectives are hunting down a gang that shot and seriously injured a man before robbing him of Sh450,000 in Thika Town, Kiambu County.
Benson Mburu was shot in the stomach by a gunman who confronted him Saturday, May 13 moments after he had received the cash from another man who was buying his car, police said.
Police suspect the gang had prior information on the deal hence the attack and robbery,
Mburu was selling the salon car and had identified a buyer to who they agreed to exchange the money in town.
The buyer walked into and out of a bank with the cash wrapped in a black bag and handed the same to Mburu.
It was then he was confronted by two men one armed with a firearm, who demanded the money.
Witnesses said Mburu resisted prompting the gunman to open fire and injure him in the stomach.
They grabbed the cash and vanished in a waiting motorcycle.
The victim was rushed to Thika Level Five Hospital, where he was admitted in stable condition.
Police said they recovered one spent cartridge of 9mm at the scene of the shooting.
No arrest has been made so far but investigations are ongoing.
