Titus Naikuni Named Cannon Insurance Chair in Board Restructure

Seasoned corporate leader Titus Naikuni has been appointed chairman of Cannon General Insurance (K) Limited as part of a wider leadership overhaul within the Cannon Group.

Naikuni joins the insurer with more than 30 years of executive and board-level experience across sectors including aviation, infrastructure, manufacturing and financial services.

As part of the restructuring, Cannon Group also appointed David Abwoga as chairman of Cannon Life Assurance (K) Limited, while Judy Kamau was named a non-executive director on the boards of Cannon General Insurance and Cannon Asset Managers (K) Limited.

The appointments come at a time when insurers are facing mounting pressure to strengthen capital positions, accelerate digital transformation and improve profitability amid intensifying competition within the financial services industry.

“We are pleased to welcome Mr Naikuni, Mr Abwoga and Ms Judy Kamau to the respective boards of Cannon General Insurance, Cannon Life Assurance and Cannon Asset Managers. Their extensive expertise and leadership track record will play a key role as we advance Cannon Group’s transformation and growth strategy,” said Cannon Group CEO Andrew Greenwood.

Before leading Kenya Airways, Naikuni served as managing director of Magadi Soda Company and also held senior government positions, including permanent secretary in the Ministry of Information, Transport and Communication.

Over the years, he has sat on the boards of several financial institutions, among them Housing Finance Company of Kenya, Heritage Insurance and Prudential Life Assurance Kenya.

Abwoga, who currently serves as an executive director at NCBA Group Plc, joins Cannon Life Assurance with over three decades of experience in finance, governance, auditing and risk management within East Africa’s financial sector.
