Three children were Tuesday night killed in a fire incident in Korogocho slums, Nairobi.
The bodies of the children aged 12, nine, and five were discovered after the fire had been contained, police said.
The fire started from one of the affected structures before it spread fast to others flattening them at about 8 pm.
The cause of the fire is yet to be known, police said.
Officials said preliminary findings had shown the mother of the children left them sleeping before she left for shopping outside.
The deceased were two females and a boy aged nine.
Police moved the bodies to the mortuary pending probe into the incident they termed tragic.
A team of experts visited the scene on Wednesday as part of the probe into the fire incident.
Fire incidents have been on the rise in informal settlements and response teams blame the lack of roads for their spread and damage.
