The young boy, known as Jeshit Murimi, tragically lost his life while enjoying a swim in the swollen River Nyamindi.
Assistant Chief Patrick Waweru of Gichonjo sub-location confirmed the distressing incident. He revealed, “The Form Three student drowned on Wednesday evening around 5 pm while swimming in the river alone.”
Jeshit had been spending time near the river with his twin brother and a small group of friends when the unfortunate incident occurred.

The twin brother recounted his futile attempts to rescue Jeshit, saying, “I tried everything I could to help my brother, encouraging him not to panic, unfortunately, he drowned.
It was then that I raised the alarm.”
Expressing the family’s deep sorrow, the aunt, Jane Wanjira, stated, “The mother, my sister, is still camping at the bank of the river, hoping and praying that he will be found. She spent the night here at the river.”
Now, the devastated residents are appealing to the county government for assistance in locating the young boy’s body, as the community grapples with the profound loss.
