In Kilindini, Mombasa County, law enforcement officers have detained two individuals caught with 26 kilograms of bhang.
The individuals, identified as Collins Omondi and Halima Masudi Hassan, were apprehended by Anti-Narcotics investigators on Friday.
Initially, Omondi was the target of the investigators, who trailed him from the Likoni Matatu Station, where he purportedly received a suspicious parcel from Tanga, Tanzania.
He then transported the package to his Subaru Treza; Reg. No. KDE 948E.
“The officers, monitoring Omondi’s movements, followed him to Fazuka Apartment Complex in Utange Solian, where they promptly arrested him,” the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) stated in a release on X.
“A thorough search of his vehicle revealed a well-disguised manilla sack, concealed beneath a heap of oranges.
Upon inspection, the sack was found to contain 14kg of bhang.”
Following this seizure, investigators proceeded to Hassan’s apartment.
“The officers visited the residence of Halima Masudi Hassan.
Unfortunately for her, the individuals she encountered at her doorstep were those she had feared.
In her residence, an additional 12kg of bhang was confiscated,” explained the DCI.
Both suspects are presently detained at Port Police Station awaiting legal proceedings.
