Police are investigating an incident in which the bodies of two men aged about 30 were found in a dam in Garbatula area, Isiolo County.
The men had been shot and the bodies were dumped there at an unknown time and by unknown gunmen.
Other herders had taken their animals to the dam when they stumbled on the bodies, police, and witnesses said.
The bodies were later retrieved from the dam and police said they had gunshot wounds in the heads.
They also had bruised mouths and hands and blood oozing from the mouth and nose.
A juvenile suspect was arrested and is helping in the probe into the incident.
Such cases of the shooting of herders are common in the area amid campaigns to address the menace.
Last week on June 26, gunmen attacked and killed two minors in an attack in Loiyangalani, Marsabit County.
Police are investigating the murder of the two juveniles after the attack on June 26.
The bodies were found in Motwolkiteng water point and were identified as those of Brian Mpushe Lekulo aged 12 years and Lponila Lasapicho aged 12 years.
They had bullet wounds when they were discovered, police said.
A third boy aged 16 was found alive with a fractured leg and bullet wounds, police said.
It was established that the pupils who are all from Titus Ngoyoni boarding primary school, were on their way to Arapal when they met seven armed men who opened fire and killed the two.

The gunmen left thinking they had also killed the third victim, police said.
The injured pupil was rushed to Loiyangalani sub-county hospital for treatment.
Police said five spent cartridges of 7.62x39mm were recovered at the scene.
The bodies were left with family members, as they resisted any attempt by police officers to move them to the mortuary.
There are fears the locals will organize a retaliation against those believed to have attacked the boys.
The area is among places facing cases of insecurity amid ongoing police operations.
Dozens of firearms have been recovered in the operation amid persistent attacks.
