Two young children have tragically died in a devastating fire that engulfed their home in Nyandarua’s Heni area.
The fire broke out late Tuesday night at the Heni Dispensary staff quarters, according to police reports.
The blaze reportedly started around 7:50 PM, with preliminary investigations revealing that the nurse residing in the staff quarters had left her two children, aged six and four, alone in the house while she went out to buy milk.
When she returned, she found the entire house ablaze.
The wooden structure of the staff quarters was entirely destroyed by the fire, which ravaged the first floor where the children were trapped.
The Naivasha fire brigade was quickly dispatched to the scene and successfully extinguished the flames.
However, the firefighters were unable to save the children, whose bodies were recovered from the site of the fire.
The police have secured the area, and the bodies of the deceased children have been transported to Engineer Hospital Mortuary.
They will remain there until a formal autopsy is conducted to determine the exact cause of death and further investigate the circumstances surrounding the tragedy.
This incident has deeply shocked the local community, highlighting concerns about fire safety and the safety of children left unattended.
The authorities continue to investigate the fire’s origins and circumstances, and further updates are expected as the investigation progresses.
