Two people were killed in separate electrocution incidents reported to police in Nyali and Kakamega.
In the first incident, a 22-year-old construction worker died following an electrocution incident at a building site in Nyali, Mombasa County.
According to police, the incident occurred on April 20, 2026, at around 1:30 p.m. at Zambarani Homes, a construction site located along Mt. Kenya Road in Nyali Sub-county.
The deceased, identified as Harrison Ochieng Oginga, was working as a plumber’s helper.
He was assisting a plumber in installing a basin mixer in the master bedroom on the 7th floor of the building, which is still under construction, when he was accidentally electrocuted.
He was rushed to Premier Hospital for emergency treatment but was pronounced dead on arrival.
Police officers from Nyali Police Station visited both the scene and the hospital, where they confirmed the incident.
The scene was processed as part of ongoing investigations.
The body of the deceased was later transferred to the Coast General Mortuary, where it is being preserved pending an autopsy.
Authorities have launched investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Elsewhere, a 41-year-old man died after being electrocuted while pruning a tree at a residential home in Likuyani Sub-county, Kakamega County.
The incident occurred on April 20, 2026, at around 4:30 p.m. in Milimani sub-location, Machine area.
The deceased, identified as Eric Wafula, had reportedly been contracted by a homeowner to prune a tree along a fence when he came into contact with live electricity wires, leading to the fatal incident.
Police officers who visited the scene established that the body was lying lifeless with visible burn injuries on the left side.
A team from the Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC) was notified and arrived at the scene to conduct preliminary investigations into the cause of the electrocution.
The body was later moved to Likuyani Sub-county Hospital mortuary, where it is awaiting a post-mortem examination.
Authorities have launched investigations into the incident.
