Two Nigerian nationals were Sunday arrested in Nairobi following an international arrest warrant issued by the FBI.
The two identified as Franklin Ifeanyichukwu Okwona and Ebuka Raphael Umeti were intercepted at Jomo Kenyatta
International Airport as they tried to leave for Turkey on June 11, officials said.
Police said they had been served with an international warrant to arrest the two.
It is not clear how long the two had been in Kenya and what their mission was.
Officials from the transnational organized crime unit arrived with the warrant and intercepted the two amid protests.
The two tried to resist but were warned it was a criminal offense to do so.
They were driven out of the airport to the DCI headquarters for questioning and further processing.
Police said they plan to process their extradition to the USA following the request by the FBI.
The Nigerian embassy in Nairobi was informed of the developments.
Kenya has been cooperating with the US in arresting and extraditing suspects wanted there. Most of the suspects are connected to fraud and drug trafficking.
At JKIA, police also intercepted one Laenaya Mohamed, a Mauritania national following claims he had obtained money with false pretense.
He was expected in court later on Tuesday.
