Two people died on Saturday morning and 10 others were seriously injured after the bus they were traveling in was involved in a road accident.
Police blamed bad visibility among other reasons for accident which occurred in Muguga, Kikuyu, Kiambu County.
Kikuyu police Commander Ronald Ukirudi said the 62-passenger bus belonging to the Eldoret Express Company hit an oil truck that was stuck on the road at around 11:30 in the morning.
Police also revealed that more than 10 passengers who suffered serious injuries were rushed to Kikuyu hospital where they are receiving treatment.
The bodies of the two passengers were taken to Thogoto hospital mortuary, while the remains of the vehicles were towed to the Kikuyu police station.
The police Commander said the road safety police have launched an investigation to determine what happened to cause the fatal accident.
The accident caused heavy traffic, forcing Nairobi-bound drivers to use alternative routes in Muguga villages and join the Kinoo highway.
The bus was heading to Nairobi from west region when it hit an oil truck.
Simon Kimani, a resident who witnessed the accident, said they were attracted by the sounds of cracking and loud banging.
