Two men who were among five suspected gangsters were killed following a botched robbery attempt in Lolwe estate, Kisumu County.
They were stoned to death by a mob, police said.
The five-man gang was armed as they raided Savannah Court located in Lolwe.
Nyanza Regional Police boss Karanja Muiruri said three other suspects managed to escape.
“Residents spotted them and raised the alarm, attracting attention from other tenants. The two were cornered by locals who subjected them to mob justice,” Muiruri added.
The bodies of the two have been taken to Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital (JOOTRH) mortuary.
The public has been urged against lynching suspects.
