The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) has undertaken a significant restructuring of its members within the Nairobi City County Assembly.
The decision to realign the party’s leadership was conveyed through a formal notice Monday signed by party leader Cleophas Malala and addressed to the assembly’s speaker.
The restructuring initiative resulted in the removal of the minority leader and the minority chief whip from their respective positions.
This noteworthy development followed a crucial meeting that was convened on October 17 at the Member’s Lounge, City Hall Building.

Anthony Kiragu Karanja and Mark Ronaldo Mugambi no longer serve as the minority leader and Minority Chief Whip within the assembly.
In the wake of these changes, Waithera Chege, MCA for Nairobi South Ward, will take on the mantle of Minority Leader. Additionally, Joyse Muthoni, a nominated MCA, will now assume the role of Minority Whip.
UDAhas appointed Deonysias Mwangi as the Deputy Minority Leader, providing support to Chege in her new position. Simultaneously, Samora Mwaura, the MCA representing Clay City Ward, will serve as the Deputy Minority Whip.
