In Uganda’s capital city, Kampala, some roads will be temporarily closed on Friday for a special event celebrating President Yoweri Museveni’s 79th birthday.
Senior Superintendent Godwin Arinaitwe, who oversees traffic in Kampala, announced this traffic plan.
The event will be held at Kololo Independence grounds and is expected to bring in around 100,000 guests.
“We are expecting around 100, 000 guests who will be coming from different parts of the country.
We appeal to the guest public to be vigilant but also follow the traffic guidelines we have temporary disruptions to traffic flow,” said Arinaitwe, as reported by the Nile Post.
During the celebration, the Golf Course traffic lights leading to Acacia Avenue will remain open for use.
However, certain roads such as Upper Kololo Terrace, Elgon Terrace, and Lower Kololo Terrace will be reserved for very important guests (VVIPs) and closed to regular motorists.

It’s worth noting that these birthday celebrations, which have generated significant excitement, were organized by a group of young individuals, led by Hadijah Uzeiye Namyalo, the National Coordinator in the Office of the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) party’s National Chairman.
Although the event is set for September 8, President Museveni’s actual birthday is on September 15, a week later.
