After a protracted illness, renowned media personality and seasoned journalist Leonard Mambo Mbotela passed away.
Anne Mbotela, his daughter-in-law, claims that the legendary broadcaster passed away on Friday, February 7, at approximately 9:30 a.m.
Mbotela’s most well-known role was anchoring the well-liked radio and television program Jee Huuu ni Ungwana on Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC), which was a mainstay in Kenyan homes for more than 55 years.
Since its 1966 debut, the program has been one of East Africa’s longest running broadcasts, winning over generations of listeners and viewers with its message of morality and good behavior.

A trailblazer who contributed to the expansion of Kenya’s radio business has passed away, but his powerful voice will live on throughout the country.
The nation is in grief following Mbotela’s departure, and both colleagues and admirers have been paying their respects by praising his extraordinary contribution to Kenyan society and media.
