In a gazette notice issued on Friday, November 8, several Cabinet Secretaries in President William Ruto’s administration made key appointments across various government ministries.
Hassan Joho, the Cabinet Secretary for Mining and the Blue Economy, appointed Faraj Majur to the National Mining Corporation and Adan Yusuf Deis and Darius Mobe to the Kenya Fishing Industries Corporation as board members.
In the Ministry of National Treasury, Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi made several appointments to important agencies.
At the Nairobi International Financial Centre Authority, he named Michael Waititu Maina as a board member with a term running until May 18, 2026.
At Consolidated Bank Limited, Mbadi appointed Harun Kipkemei and Florence Auma Oluoch to the bank’s board of directors.
Additionally, Millicent Omanga was appointed to the board of the Local Authorities Provident Fund, alongside two other new members.
The appointments were formalized under the Local Authorities Provident Fund Act.
The notice also revealed that Samwel Kariuki Maina, Beatrice Kones, and Millicent Nyaboke were appointed to the Board of the Local Authorities Provident Fund for a three-year term starting November 8, 2024.
In the Ministry of Labour, Cabinet Secretary Alfred Mutua appointed Isaac Mbingi Okello as a trustee of the National Social Security Fund (NSSF), effective immediately, for a term of three years.
Margaret Ndung’u, the Cabinet Secretary for Information, Communications, and Digital Economy, announced the appointment of Rose Ombaki to the board of Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC).
The Ministry of Health, led by Cabinet Secretary Deborah Barasa, also made appointments to key health-related bodies.
Barasa appointed Tusmo Jama, Sylvia Achieng Ojoo, and Moses Merkalel Atuko to the board of the Kenya BioVax Institute Limited for a term of three years, starting November 8, 2024.
However, Sylvia Achieng Ojoo’s appointment was subsequently revoked from the National Syndemic Diseases Control Council to allow her to serve on the BioVax board.
In the Ministry of Education, Cabinet Secretary Julius Migos Ogamba appointed Francis Mutungi, Adan Omar Enow, and Hawo Shanko Abdullah to the Council of the North Eastern National Polytechnic, where they will serve until June 15, 2026.
Eric Muriithi Mugaa, the Cabinet Secretary for Water and Sanitation, appointed Butichi Khamisi to the board of the Lake Victoria North Water Works Development Agency.
Lastly, Alice Wahome, the Cabinet Secretary for Land and Public Works, made appointments to two key agencies.
She named Mercy Okiro and Peter Musango to the board of the National Construction Authority, while Yvette Olende was appointed to the National Construction Appeals Board.
These appointments span a range of government sectors, with key individuals now serving in important leadership roles within state corporations and institutions.
