Activist Boniface Mwangi has reportedly been abducted by unidentified individuals, according to his Wife , Njeri Mwangi.
She shared that he was taken early Sunday morning in Ukambani at around 7:15 a.m.
“Six unknown individuals arrived at our home and forcefully took my husband,” Njeri posted on social media.
“I have no information about who they are, why they did this, or where they have taken him.”
The incident has raised significant concern among his supporters and the broader community.
This troubling development comes just a day after Mwangi publicly declared his plans to disrupt the Standard Chartered marathon scheduled for the same day.
In a social media post on Saturday evening, he called on his followers to attend the marathon dressed in attire that opposes the Kenya Kwanza administration, highlighting the political undertones of the event.
Mwangi encouraged participants to wear clothing featuring the national flag, don hats in the country’s colors, and record protest chants to share online.
He also urged them to bring placards with messages directed at President William Ruto, emphasizing a collective stand against the current regime.
His intentions to use a high-profile event like the marathon for political expression reflect his ongoing activism and desire to mobilize public dissent.
However, his sudden disappearance has cast a shadow over these efforts, prompting urgent calls for his safe return from various quarters, including human rights organizations and fellow activists.
The situation underscores the risks faced by activists in Kenya and raises questions about political freedoms in the country.
As the news spreads, many are watching closely, hoping for a swift resolution and the safe return of Boniface Mwangi.
