A 60-year-old woman died after being assaulted in her house by a relative in Sabasaba area, Muranga County.
Police said Rose Wanjiru Mugoro died on Tuesday after she had been hit in the head.
The incident happened in the Igikiro area.
The assailant who is the deceased’s grandson used a wooden stick to hit her in the head.
She sustained a cracked skull that led to her death.
The assailant tried to escape the scene but was arrested by locals who surrendered him to police.
Police said they are yet to know the motive of the brutal attack.
The body of the woman was moved to the mortuary pending autopsy.
The suspect was held pending arraignment.
In Athi River, Machakos County, the body of a woman was found in her house.
The woman had died at an unknown time and day in the Bondeni area, police said.
Her decomposed body was discovered by her neighbours who said the stench had been disturbing them.
Police broke into the house and found the body lying on the floor with no visible injuries.
The body was moved to the mortuary pending autopsy and other investigations.
