Detectives domiciled at the DCI Homicide Bureau have arrested a woman in connection with the murder of Maxwell Wamwea, which occurred on May 11, 2022, in Kasarani area in Nairobi.
Initially, the case was reported to Kasarani Police Station as a mob injustice incident.
However, following a complaint letter received on November 19, 2023, the DCI initiated fresh investigations.
After reviewing the resulting file, the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) recommended that Cecilia Wangari Kirisa, 39, along with another suspect who is still at large, be charged with the murder of the deceased.
Wangari was apprehended at her hideout in a short-stay apartment in Thindigwa, Kiambu County ahead of arraignment.
In a separate incident, another murder suspect, Martin Asembo Masemo, 32, was also arrested following ongoing investigations into the murders of George Njuguna Ngung’u, which occurred on July 31, 2024, and Victoria Mumbua Moloki, which took place on September 27, 2024.
Both victims were taxi drivers in Mombasa and Migori, respectively.
Masemo is believed to be an accomplice of Edwin Kipngetich, who is already facing charges in the Nakuru High Court.
He will appear in court for a custodial order application to allow the investigators to conclude their investigations.
Meanwhile, efforts to trace and apprehend additional suspects connected to these murders are in full swing.
And in Mochokoret village, Ainabkoi Sub-County, a family feud over food turned tragic on February 19, 2025, when two youthful brothers turned against their 40-year-old kin, killing him on the spot.
Preliminary investigations by Ainabkoi detectives who received the shocking report from the man of the house revealed that, on the fateful night, the father and his three sons were having the available meal for dinner, when a heated argument over what was on the table arose.
The squabble spiraled out of control despite the 70-year-old’s desperate efforts to calm his progenies down, melee that culminated in the deadly stabbing of Emmanuel Kiplagat Sing’oei, 40.
The hope of resuscitating his son died down when a doctor at Plateau Mission Hospital confirmed Kiplagat’s death.
A kitchen knife through the left side of the chest had robbed a life and a son. Arriving at the grisly scene, investigators found the murder weapon and a blood-stained T-shirt which were preserved as exhibits.
The suspects, Duncan Kiptoo Singo’ei, 27 and Kelvin Kiplimo Singo’ei, 25, were also taken into custody ahead of planned arraignment.
