Police in Tigania East, Meru County, are investigating the death of a 20-year-old man who was allegedly stabbed during a fight with his elder brother.
The deceased, identified as John Mwenda, a resident of Lanyiru, was found dead in a farm in Lii Village, Muthara Location, on Friday.
Police visited the scene and found Mwenda’s lifeless body with a visible stab wound on the left side of his stomach.
He also had injuries to the right side of his head and right arm.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the injuries may have been sustained during a fight between Mwenda and his elder brother, identified as William Thuranira.
Thuranira is said to have sustained serious injuries during the confrontation and was reportedly taken to an undisclosed hospital by Good Samaritans.
Police have launched efforts to trace and locate Thuranira, who is being sought to assist investigators in establishing what transpired.
A blood-stained panga, believed to have been used in the attack, was recovered at the scene and taken as an exhibit.
The motive of the alleged fight had not been established by the time of reporting.
Crime Scene Investigation officers documented and processed the scene before Mwenda’s body was moved to the St John of God Mission Hospital mortuary, where it is being preserved pending a postmortem examination.
Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
And police in Igembe South, Meru County, have launched investigations after the body of an unidentified man was found beside the Maua-Antubochio road.
The body, believed to be that of a man aged about 60 years, was discovered on Friday morning within Maua Location.
According to police, a member of the public reported the incident.
The officers found the lifeless man lying beside the road with visible injuries to the head and right wrist.
Police suspect the man may have been killed elsewhere before his body was dumped at the scene.
Crime Scene Investigation (CSI) officers processed and documented the scene before the body was removed to the Nyambene Sub-County Hospital mortuary, where it is being preserved pending an autopsy.
The identity of the deceased and the circumstances surrounding his death remain unknown as detectives pursue investigations.
Meanwhile, police in Homa Bay County have launched investigations into the suspected murder of a 40-year-old man whose body was found beside a road in Bonde Village, Obisa Sub-location, Rachuonyo South Sub-County.
The deceased, identified as Phillip Odwar, was found lying lifeless beside a murram road a few metres from his home on Friday morning.
Police visited the scene and established that Odwar had visible injuries to his head.
Police said the circumstances surrounding his death were yet to be established as investigations continued.
The deceased was last seen alive on Thursday.
Odwar told his mother that he was heading to Oyugis Town to get her some food. He did not return home.
His body was later discovered beside the road, a short distance from their home.
Police officers processed and documented the scene before moving the body to the Rachuonyo Sub-County Hospital mortuary, where it was preserved pending a postmortem examination.
Detectives are investigating the circumstances that led to Odwar’s death and are seeking to establish where he spent his final hours and how he sustained the fatal injuries.
