Police in Kisii County have launched investigations into the death of a 24-year-old man whose partially burned body was found beside a road in the Ufanisi–Nyankongo area on Thursday morning.
According to the police, a local heard a commotion at a neighbouring apartment at around 6:30 a.m. while at her house. She went outside towards the direction of the disturbance and found the body of her brother lying beside the road.
The deceased was identified as Fredrick Murioki.
Police reported that the body had visible injuries and was partially burned.
The scene was processed and documented before the body was moved to the Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital mortuary, where it is being preserved pending an autopsy.
Investigations are ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding the death.
And a 17-year-old Grade Seven pupil died after he was allegedly stabbed during an altercation involving a group of boys in Ntimaru, Migori County.
The pupil at Kohero Comprehensive School, was allegedly stabbed by Maseke Chacha Mweri at around 7 p.m. on Wednesday..
Preliminary investigations established that a group of boys from Masangora and Nyanderema areas had engaged in an altercation along the Gwitembe–Angata tarmac road, near Gwitembe Primary School.
The group reportedly chased one another towards the homestead of Gabriel Chacha, where a family ceremony was taking place.
Upon reaching the homestead gate, the suspect allegedly stabbed the deceased on the back and left arm.
The victim was rushed to Ntimaru Sub-County Hospital before being referred to Kehancha Hospital and later to Ombo Mission Hospital, where he died while undergoing treatment.
Police further established that the suspect allegedly stabbed a nine-year-old boy, while fleeing the scene. The juvenile, a pupil at Gwitembe Academy, was taken to Seronga Hospital, treated and discharged in
stable condition.
The altercation is suspected to have been linked to revenge or a personal grudge, although investigations are ongoing to establish the circumstances.
The scene was processed and documented, while the deceased’s body remains at the medical facility pending an autopsy.
